SEND IAS in the Code of Practice

SEND IAS Services must be available in every local authority and are a statutory service which supports:

  • Parents and Carers of Children and young people aged 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Young people with Special Educational needs and disabilities aged 16+

Impartial information, advice and support is covered in chapter 2 of the SEND Code of Practice which can be accessed via the link below. Chapter 2 covers the local authorities duties to provide impartial information, advice and support services for children, young people and parents which cover Special Educational Needs, Disability , Health and Social Care.

Oldham Local Authority have made this provision through POINT Services who operate the SEND IAS Service independently of the local authority.
